Abstract


Objectives: This study is to provide high-quality dental hygiene interventions to systemic patients in the future based on the identified factors affecting the related knowledge of systemic diseases and oral health for students of hygiene affiliation, and this intends to be helpful in using it as basic data to reinforce the educational part of the relationship between systemic diseases and oral health.

Methods: Subjects are 175 first and second year health students who surveyed from October 5-23, 2020.

Results: As a result of examining the factors affecting the related knowledge to systemic diseases and oral health, it was found that the education for department and systemic disease were necessary and the knowledge scores of students of the nursing and dental hygiene department had higher than the health care administration students (p <.001) and the knowledge scores of students who needed education had higher than those who did not (p<.05).

Conclusions: It is important to inform that there is a necessity of education by providing an easy opportunity to access knowledge related to systemic diseases to students. and it is expected that the development for the various educational programs to provide educational opportunities for students about systemic disease and oral health knowledge and the necessity of the research to confirm their effectiveness in the future.
